Hohenzollern Castle looks back on roughly 1,000 years of construction and family history. Glorious and dark times have marked its path. The current castle is the third fortress on the Zollerberg hill. After the destruction and decay of its two predecessors, it was rebuilt between 1850 and 1867 – larger and more beautiful than ever before. And the castle remains privately owned by the Hohenzollern family. Once a secure stronghold for the Counts of Zollern in times of war, today it opens its gates daily to peaceful visitors from all over the world, offering glimpses into its magnificent chambers.
